Spaghetti Printing
Diagnose prints that turn into a tangled mass of loose filament.
A spaghetti failure happens when the printer continues extruding after it is no longer printing onto the intended model.
The most common cause is the model detaching from the build plate.
Clean the build surface and check first-layer adhesion.
A support structure can also fail while the main model remains attached. Check that supports have enough contact with the build plate.
Another cause is a collision between the nozzle and the print. This may knock a poorly attached model over.
Tall, narrow models are particularly vulnerable.
Check your slicer preview for unsupported areas that begin printing in mid-air.
If your printer has automatic print-failure detection, make sure it is enabled where appropriate.
Never assume a long print is safe simply because the first few layers succeeded. Larger prints can fail many hours later.
Common causes: model detachment, support failure, nozzle collision, unsupported geometry.
